On March 25, 1971, Melvin Murphy, aged 49, disappeared while on a clamming trip in Frenchman’s Bay, Maine. Murphy, along with five other individuals, set out from Hancock Point that afternoon on a 16-foot outboard-powered boat, aiming to harvest clams near Stave Island.
