On a summer day in June of 1978, 16-year-old Renee Eilleen Wade disappeared in Seward, Alaska. She was with her foster father, Philip Fisher, and another girl, canoeing across the chilly waters of Bear Lake, located about six miles north of Seward. The canoe overturned, casting all three of them into the lake. While the other girl managed to swim to safety, both Renee and Philip Fisher vanished into the water.
