Karen Lee Valdez, a 26-year-old mechanic stationed at F.E. Warren Air Force Base in Cheyenne, Wyoming, was last seen on November 21, 1983. On the day of her disappearance, she was spotted loading her yellow Dodge Ram truck, possibly preparing to visit a friend in Denver, Colorado. However, she never arrived at her destination, and her truck was never found.
Initially classified as a deserter a month later, her case was eventually reclassified as a missing person case as the Air Force could not confirm whether her disappearance was voluntary or not. Valdez, a white female with brown hair and blue eyes, stood at about 5'2" and weighed 118 pounds. She had family ties in Florida, but no significant leads have emerged over the years despite periodic reinvestigations by the Air Force Office of Special Investigations (OSI).
