Katherine Schupp Major, aged 53, was last seen on September 19, 2009, at the Four Seasons Resort in Teton Village, Wyoming. Major, who suffered from bipolar disorder and had a history of suicide attempts, disappeared under suspicious circumstances. She had been caught stealing items from a spa at the resort earlier that day but was allowed to settle the matter without legal charges.
After agreeing to leave the hotel, she returned to her room, and when authorities checked on her shortly after, she was gone.
Her belongings, including her purse, wallet, a large sum of cash, and her cats, were left behind. There was no sign of struggle, but Major left a note addressed to her mother, asking her to take care of the cats and expressing a sense of hopelessness. Investigators suspect she may have wandered off in a mental health crisis, as police found various unusual items in her room, including wigs and pill bottles.
