On a summer day in June of 2000, 34-year-old William John King set out for a fishing trip on Lake Michigan with three companions. The group was aboard a 19-foot aluminum-hulled boat off the shore of Algoma, Wisconsin. What began as a recreational outing took a tragic turn when the vessel capsized. The suddenness of the event plunged all four individuals into the cool waters of the lake, initiating a desperate struggle for survival.
