On a summer morning in July of 1984, a white Cessna 401B with green and gold trim departed from Anchorage, Alaska, destined for Cantwell. Onboard were 39-year-old John Patrick Murphy and four other men: Gerald Dalrymple, Jack Dickey, Donald Gabbert, and the pilot, Gordon Newstrom. The men were employees of Newberry Alaska, embarking on an inspection trip related to the Alaska Power Authority intertie between Fairbanks and Anchorage.
