Sandra Payne, a 33-year-old woman, was last seen on July 4, 1996, in Santa Fe, New Mexico. She had attended a barbecue near the Santa Fe Downs with a female friend. Payne was witnessed leaving the gathering between 9:00 and 9:30 p.m. in a blue Mazda pickup truck driven by Robert L. Bryant, but she never returned to pick up her own car and has not been seen since.

Investigators later found inconsistencies in Bryant's statements about that night. He claimed to have left the barbecue ...
