Monte James Swanson, a 24-year-old man, was last in contact with his family on September 15, 2014. He had originally left Missoula, Montana, at the end of July 2014. In September of that year, he was located in Shreveport, Louisiana, and spoke with his family. Tragically, no one has reported seeing or hearing from him since that communication. It was thought that he might have been traveling to either Maine or Mississippi, but his exact destination and his last known location remain unclear.
He was known to sometimes frequent transient and homeless camps.
Further reporting revealed that Monte Swanson may have left Missoula with a man named Kevin Lino. This individual has been described in news articles as a murderer. There is speculation that Swanson may have died sometime after leaving Missoula with Lino and before Lino's eventual arrest in Louisiana.
At the time of his disappearance, Monte was described as a White/Caucasian male, standing between 5'8" and 5'10" tall and weighing between 220 and 280 pounds.
