Trista Marie Yelding, a 24-year-old woman, was in Theodore, Alabama, on April 3, 2017, the day she disappeared. She had been staying at a friend's house on Raybon Road at the time. According to her friend, Trista experienced a panic attack and ran into the wooded area behind the residence. She has not been seen or heard from since that day. All of her personal belongings, including her medication, money, and driver's license, were left behind.
This was considered out of character for Trista, particularly because her family relied on her to communicate with her deaf father. Trista, also known by her nickname Tasha, is fluent in American Sign Language.
Trista suffers from epilepsy and requires medication, which she did not take with her. Her disappearance was officially reported to the Mobile County Sheriff's Office by her sister, who had not had contact with her for approximately three and a half weeks. When deputies investigated at Trista's last known residence, her boyfriend stated he had not seen her in two weeks. Trista was very active on social media, but all activity ceased on the day she went missing. She has a tattoo of the name 'Regina' on her right arm and 'Baby Rattler' on her left thigh. At the time of her disappearance, she was described as being between 5'0' and 5'4' tall and weighing around 120 pounds. She was last seen wearing a blue shirt with 'Baldwin County, Alabama' on it, black pants, flip-flops, and a pink hat.
In July 2018, the discovery of human remains in a wooded area in Mobile, Alabama, brought a brief but ultimately unfounded development in Trista's case. The remains were heavily decomposed, and investigators initially could not determine their identity. Trista's family was notified of the possibility that the remains could be hers. However, in November 2018, the remains were identified as those of another missing woman. Since then, there has been very little information released about the investigation into Trista's disappearance. The circumstances surrounding her vanishing remain unclear, and her case is still considered an endangered missing person case. Her family continues to seek answers, and the case represents a painful and unresolved chapter for her loved ones.
