Lorenzo Neri, a 38-year-old Italian national, was last seen on December 4, 2017, in Scotts Valley, California. He had been living in Silicon Valley since 2005 and was a well-respected sommelier and yoga teacher. Neri had recently displayed signs of increasing paranoia, expressing to friends and family that he feared people were out to hurt him.
