On a summer day in August 1990, 43-year-old Susan Kim Mitter was enjoying a day of fishing in the Alaskan wilderness. She was with others, dip netting along a steep bank of the powerful Copper River, a location approximately two miles south of O'Brien Creek in the Chitina area.
