On a late June day in 1997, 41-year-old Linda Mae Parrish, along with her husband Monte and their two friends, Donald and Karen Johnston, embarked on what was likely intended to be a scenic sightseeing flight. They departed from Merrill Field in Anchorage, Alaska, in a yellow and white Cessna 182 aircraft with the tail number N3186U.
