In the winter of 2019, the life of 29-year-old Daniel Alan Price took a mysterious and unsettling turn. A resident of Lexington, North Carolina, having moved from Myrtle Beach, South Carolina, the previous year, Daniel was last seen on January 22, 2019. He resided in a house on Pearl Drive with two roommates, Christopher Ryan Burgess and Natasha Lee Myers.
The circumstances surrounding his disappearance began to unfold with a disturbing voicemail left for his mother shortly before midnight on January 23, a communication that would be the last anyone heard from him. His girlfriend, who was accustomed to speaking with him multiple times a day, last had contact with him in the early morning hours of January 23 through a phone call and a text message.
Concern grew when Daniel failed to show up for work and could not be reached. His girlfriend reported him missing on January 24. When law enforcement arrived at his home, they found his vehicle parked in the driveway, but Daniel and his two roommates were nowhere to be found. The roommates' vehicle, an older model red Chevrolet S-10 pickup truck, was also gone. Shortly after Daniel was reported missing, his roommates, Christopher Burgess and Natasha Myers, were also reported as missing persons. The situation became even more perplexing when, on January 27, the roommates returned home without Daniel. They claimed to have taken an impromptu trip to Tennessee, possibly traveling through Virginia and West Virginia. All of their cell phones had been turned off during this period.
The roommates' account of events did little to clarify the situation, reportedly offering conflicting statements about when they last saw Daniel. They told investigators they were with Daniel at a home in Oakwood Acres near High Rock Lake, a property he co-owned with Burgess, and that they all went their separate ways in the early morning of January 23. However, they allegedly told Daniel's brother that he had left with them. Adding to the mystery, Daniel left behind personal belongings, including his identification, phone charger, coat, and extra clothes. His disappearance is considered suspicious, and his family fears he may have met with foul play. The case, which is being handled by the Davidson County Sheriff's Office, remains an active and troubling investigation into the unexplained absence of Daniel Price.
