On 7/26/2023 at approximately 0945 hours, officers with California Highway Patrol were conducting a clean-up of a Metro Station Park and Ride near the decedent’s encampment when they noticed smoke coming from the encampment. Officers requested assistance and fire personnel extinguished the fire. The decedent was found charred under the fire debris.
Fellow transients in the area indicate that the decedent was a 35-45 year black male with the nickname “Goodwill”.
