On June 4, 2019, authorities in Knoxville, Tennessee, responded to the discovery of a deceased male identified as Ralph Stanton Hayes. Despite efforts to trace any next of kin, no immediate family members or close relations could be contacted to claim Mr. Hayes's body. As a result of the absence of any next of kin, the Knoxville authorities deemed it necessary to proceed with a county cremation in order to provide a respectful and dignified way to handle the remains.
