On March 28, 2019, the body of an 86-year-old woman identified as Ina Anna Cool was discovered in Tacoma, Washington. Known for her long-term residency at Orchard Park Health Care and Rehabilitation, Cool's life was closely tied to the supportive environment of the nursing home where she received extensive medical care. With a significant medical history, she spent her twilight years at the facility, living out her days with the round-the-clock care she required.
Upon her passing, the nursing staff at Orchard Park Health Care made the necessary arrangements to contact Cool's next of kin (NOK). Unfortunately, her NOK made the poignant decision to decline the responsibility of claiming her body. This left her without an immediate family advocate to ensure her final arrangements were carried out according to personal or family expectations.
Compounding the situation, Cool's sister resides out of state and is not in a position to claim her remains. The distance and potential circumstances have rendered her unable to participate in closing this final chapter for her sister.
In an effort to provide dignity and closure, the case was taken on by the Pierce County Medical Examiner's Office.
