On the night of April 18, 2022, the life of 58-year-old Mark Chan Lee was tragically cut short in a violent home invasion in Fulton, Missouri. An intruder broke into Lee's residence on a Monday evening, leading to a violent altercation. During the course of the invasion, Lee sustained multiple gunshot wounds. He was rushed to a hospital in Columbia, but ultimately succumbed to his injuries and was pronounced dead.

The violence of that night also left two other occupants of the home injured. Another man in the residence was shot in the leg and required hospitalization, while a woman was physically assaulted at the scene. Witnesses reported seeing a man fleeing from the area shortly after the gunshots rang out.

The following day, the investigation took a significant turn when a man's body was discovered a few blocks away from the scene of the crime, partially concealed under a utility trailer. The deceased individual was identified as 45-year-old Willie M. Thompkins of Fulton. Authorities determined that Thompkins had also suffered a gunshot wound and had attempted to use a tourniquet on himself before he died. A firearm was recovered with his body.

Law enforcement officials have identified Thompkins as the suspect in the home invasion that led to Mark Chan Lee's death. The investigation into the circumstances and motive behind the violent intrusion is continuing as the community grapples with the tragic events of that spring evening.
