Rafael Avila-Mendez, aged 78, was tragically found dead in his home in Kansas City, Missouri, on July 23, 2022. The Kansas City Police Department responded to a call about a shooting at around 10 p.m. on that Saturday night. Upon arrival, officers discovered Avila-Mendez inside his residence on Kansas Avenue near 19th Street, suffering from gunshot wounds. Paramedics pronounced him dead at the scene.
