On the night of November 13, 2022, authorities in St. Louis County, Missouri, initiated a homicide investigation following a violent incident at a local gas station. The series of events began around 6:30 p.m. when the Normandy Police Department responded to reports of shots fired at a BP gas station located at 1790 South Florissant Road in Cool Valley. Upon their initial arrival, officers did not locate a victim or a crime scene and subsequently cleared the area.
However, police were called back to the same location shortly after 11:00 p.m. regarding a person found unresponsive inside a vehicle.
Upon returning to the scene, investigators discovered the body of 20-year-old Synciere D. Jamison. He had sustained a fatal gunshot wound to the head and was pronounced dead at the scene. The Major Case Squad of Greater St. Louis was activated to assist the Normandy Police Department, assigning fifteen investigators to the case. Detectives utilized surveillance footage and other evidence to reconstruct the timeline, revealing that the victim had been ambushed.
According to court documents and police reports, the suspects arrived at the gas station in a stolen Hyundai. Surveillance video captured three individuals entering the store, where they used a credit card that was later flagged for fraudulent activity. As they exited, the group walked near Jamison before returning to their vehicle. They drove a short distance away, stopping near the intersection of Scoville and Emerling drives. Ring doorbell footage obtained by police showed the suspects exiting the stolen car and taking a 'tactical position' before opening fire on Jamison.
Following the investigation, police identified and arrested 20-year-old Elevion Dontae Washington in connection with the shooting. Prosecutors charged Washington with first-degree murder and armed criminal action. Authorities also filed charges against a juvenile suspect who was not immediately taken into custody. At the time of the initial reports, police indicated they were searching for additional suspects believed to be involved in the coordinated attack.
