In the summer of 2024, a burst of gunfire shattered the afternoon calm in a Bellefontaine Neighbors neighborhood, leaving a young man's life cut tragically short. On Monday, August 5, 2024, 24-year-old Tyler Brown was found shot in the 9800 block of Calumet Drive. The incident was reported to the City of Bellefontaine Neighbors Police Department at approximately 1:06 p.m.
Upon their arrival, officers discovered Brown suffering from life-threatening gunshot wounds.
He was quickly transported to a local hospital for emergency medical treatment. Despite the efforts of medical personnel, Tyler Brown succumbed to his injuries and was pronounced deceased. Brown was a resident of the 300 block of Scenic Drive in St. Louis.
In the wake of the shooting, the City of Bellefontaine Neighbors Police Department requested that the St. Louis County Police Department's Bureau of Crimes Against Persons take the lead on the homicide investigation. As of the initial reports, authorities had not released any information regarding a potential suspect or suspects in the case, and the investigation was described as ongoing.
