In the late hours of September 26, 1997, 18-year-old Kelly Eckart, a white female freshman at Franklin College, disappeared after finishing her shift at a Walmart in Franklin, Indiana. She had a brief meeting with her boyfriend before she began the drive to her home in Shelby County. The following morning, her car was discovered abandoned in a rural area, its lights still on and the keys in the ignition.
