William Morgan Collier, 37, a white male, was in South Bend, Indiana, when a late-night call brought police to the 1200 block of Queen Street around midnight. What first looked like a crash turned quickly into something darker: officers found him inside a pickup truck, wounded by at least one gunshot. They worked to keep him alive at the scene until medics rushed him to Memorial Hospital, where doctors fought for hours to save him, but he was pronounced dead in the early morning hours.
