In the early hours of a Sunday morning in South Bend, Indiana, the life of Jeremy White, a 24-year-old man known to his loved ones as 'Juicy,' was tragically cut short. On September 20, 2015, at approximately 1:30 a.m., police were dispatched to the AmVets Post 66 building located on West Western Avenue. There, on the front steps of the building, they found Jeremy White suffering from at least one gunshot wound.
He was rushed to Memorial Hospital, but succumbed to his injuries and was pronounced dead.
Jeremy, born on March 26, 1991, was a South Bend native who had attended James Adams High School. Described as a man with a beautiful smile and a wonderful personality, his presence was said to be felt whenever he entered a room. He was a father to four children, three sons and a daughter. His hobbies included cooking, playing video games, and spending time with his family. His death left a void in the lives of his parents, siblings, grandparents, and a large extended family of aunts, uncles, and cousins who cherished him.
The St. Joseph County Metro Homicide Unit took over the investigation into Jeremy White's death. At the time of the incident, it was reported that many people were outside the AmVets building when the shooting occurred. Investigators remained at the scene for hours, interviewing witnesses and collecting evidence in the hopes of piecing together the events that led to the fatal shooting.
Despite the initial investigation and the presence of potential witnesses, information regarding any arrests or the identification of a suspect or suspects in the killing of Jeremy White has not been made publicly available in the years following his death. The case remains a painful and unresolved chapter for his family and the South Bend community. Authorities had asked for anyone with information to come forward, but the trail of public information regarding any progress in the investigation has since gone cold.
