In the small community of Brazil, Indiana, a distressing 911 call in the early morning hours of October 14, 2016, marked the beginning of a tragic event. Eric Wayne Hutton II, a 27-year-old White/Caucasian male, informed dispatchers that he had been shot. When police arrived at his residence on Noble Street, they found him unresponsive. Despite being rushed to a nearby hospital, Hutton succumbed to his injuries and was pronounced dead.
The investigation into Hutton's death was swift, and
law enforcement quickly identified a person of interest. Later that day, officers tracked the individual to an apartment on West Central Avenue in Brazil. As they attempted to make contact, the person briefly appeared at a window before retreating. A single gunshot was then heard from inside the residence. Upon entering, police discovered the person of interest with a life-threatening, self-inflicted gunshot wound to the head. The individual was transported to a hospital in Terre Haute and later died from the injury.
