In the quiet town of Brazil, Indiana, a domestic disturbance on a Sunday evening in February escalated into a tragedy that would end a young man's life. On February 16, 2020, authorities were called to a residence on State Road 340 just west of the city, responding to a report of shots fired. Inside the home, they found the body of 31-year-old Robert P.
Blystone, a White/Caucasian male, who had sustained fatal gunshot wounds.
The initial investigation by the Indiana State Police quickly identified the incident as stemming from a 'domestic situation.' An autopsy performed the following day confirmed Blystone's identity and the cause of his death. As the investigation unfolded over the next several weeks, the individual responsible for the shooting was identified as Keegan Galloway. Galloway maintained that his actions were taken in self-defense during the altercation.
After a thorough investigation, the Indiana State Police turned their findings over to the Clay County Prosecutor's Office for review. In May 2020, Prosecutor Emily Clarke announced that no criminal charges would be filed against Keegan Galloway in connection with Blystone's death. Clarke stated that after reviewing the evidence, it was determined that Galloway had acted in self-defense of himself and/or others present at the scene.
