In what began as a domestic argument, 38-year-old Allen DeWayne Bolton Jr. was shot and killed in a Fort Wayne, Indiana hotel room on April 12, 2017. The incident, which took place at the Ramada Inn on Washington Center Road, tragically unfolded in front of the couple's 10-year-old son.
During the course of an argument between Bolton and his girlfriend, Natasha Reed, a gun reportedly fell out of a bag Bolton had shaken. Reed then grabbed the firearm and shot Bolton, leading to his death.
Friends and family remembered Bolton, a United States Marine veteran, as a man with an outgoing spirit and a contagious laugh who was dedicated to his children.
Following the shooting, Natasha Reed, who was 36 years old at the time, was arrested and faced charges of murder and a felony firearm charge. In a subsequent court hearing, Reed pleaded guilty to a lesser charge of voluntary manslaughter.
As a result of her guilty plea, Natasha Reed was sentenced to 20 years in prison for her role in the death of Allen Bolton Jr.
