In a tragic turn of events, 22-year-old Heavan Rachelle Henderson of Indianapolis, Indiana, was found deceased in what authorities have determined to be a murder-suicide. Her body was discovered in a field near Lapel in Madison County, alongside her boyfriend, Jeremy Danowski. The couple had been reported missing on December 18, 2018.
An autopsy confirmed that Henderson died from three gunshot wounds to her neck. The Madison County Coroner, Marian Dunnichay, ruled her death a homicide.
Danowski was found to have died from a single gunshot wound to the head, and his death was ruled a suicide. Investigators believe the incident occurred on December 17, 2018, a day before the couple was reported missing.
At the scene, law enforcement recovered a small handgun that the couple had purchased, along with two shell casings. A shared cell phone belonging to the couple was also found and was subject to forensic analysis to uncover a motive. Danowski's car was located at a nearby park in Lapel, leading investigators to believe the two walked down a set of tracks to the location where their bodies were ultimately found in an embrace.
Heavan Henderson was born on October 12, 1995, and had graduated from Lapel High School in 2014. She had a passion for volunteering, particularly with Indy Urban Gardens. Her family remembered her love for them, as well as her enjoyment of concerts, music, the outdoors, and politics.
