In the quiet town of Avon, Indiana, a domestic dispute escalated into a tragedy that claimed the life of 32-year-old Andrea R. Soberalski. On a Monday afternoon in late March of 2018, what began as a disagreement at Soberalski's home on Bluewood Way took a violent turn. In a desperate attempt to find safety, Soberalski fled across the street, seeking refuge at a neighbor's house.

Schooley, 35, armed with a handgun, follow her onto the neighbor's porch. It was there that the sound of gunshots shattered the neighborhood's peace. A woman arriving for an online purchase transaction discovered the scene and immediately called 911. When police arrived, they found Schooley deceased on the front lawn and Soberalski critically injured with at least two gunshot wounds on the porch.
Soberalski was rushed to Eskenazi Health in critical condition. Despite medical efforts, she was pronounced brain dead days later. Her passing was officially recorded on March 29, 2018. Authorities confirmed that Soberalski and Schooley were in a relationship and that there had been at least one prior domestic-related call to their residence. Police believe the incident was contained to the two individuals, with Schooley's death occurring at the scene.
