In the quiet, rural setting of Cass Township in LaPorte County, Indiana, the life of 33-year-old Jeremiah J. Wetzel was tragically cut short on a Monday night in May of 2020. The events of that evening unfolded in the 8200 west block of County Road 1500 South, where LaPorte County sheriff's deputies were dispatched to a residence. Upon their arrival at approximately 8:15 p.m., they encountered a person leaving the home and promptly took them into custody.
