In the spring of 2017, the life of 38-year-old Aaron J. Ivy was tragically cut short in Indianapolis. On April 28th of that year, Ivy, an African-American male, was discovered on the 3200 block of North Tacoma Avenue suffering from gunshot wounds. Despite any medical intervention he may have received, he succumbed to his injuries, and his death was subsequently classified as a homicide.
In the days that followed, family and friends mourned the sudden loss of a man remembered fondly by
his community. His funeral service was held on May 12, 2017, at the Greater Progressive Baptist Church, where those who knew him gathered to pay their final respects before he was laid to rest at Sutherland Park Cemetery. He was survived by his parents, his daughter, and his siblings.
The investigation into Aaron Ivy's death has unfortunately remained stagnant. To date, no suspects have been publicly identified or apprehended in connection with his murder. The case is one of many unsolved homicides in a year that saw a significant increase in gun-related violence in Indianapolis. For his family and the wider community, the hope for justice and answers continues, even as years pass without a resolution to his case.
