In the early hours of a summer Saturday, the life of Andre L. Nolan, a 25-year-old Black male from Indianapolis, was tragically cut short. On July 25, 2020, police were called to the Irish Hills Apartments in South Bend, Indiana, around 2 a.m. after residents reported hearing the sound of gunshots. Inside one of the apartments, officers discovered Nolan, who had sustained a fatal gunshot wound.
Investigations by the St.
Joseph County Metro Homicide Unit revealed that a small gathering had been taking place in the apartment. An argument erupted amongst those present, escalating to the point of gunfire. In the ensuing chaos, not only was Nolan killed, but a 24-year-old woman was also struck by a bullet. She was transported to a local hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.
In the days that followed, an autopsy was scheduled to confirm the cause of Nolan's death. Authorities interviewed witnesses who were at the gathering, hoping to piece together the events that led to the deadly shooting. Despite their efforts and the ongoing investigation, no arrests have been made in connection with Andre Nolan's death. The case remains open, and law enforcement continues to encourage anyone with information to come forward. There has been no public identification of any suspect or suspects in the years following the incident.
