In the autumn of 2020, a simmering dispute tragically escalated, claiming the life of 28-year-old Arneshia Fuller in Anderson, Indiana. On the evening of October 25th, police responded to a call on Forkner Street around 8:27 p.m. and discovered Fuller with critical injuries. Despite being rushed to a nearby hospital, she succumbed to multiple gunshot wounds to the chest.
The investigation into Fuller's death uncovered a history of conflict with Joshua Treadwell and his girlfriend,
Brooklyn Parnell. Months prior, a verbal altercation had erupted between Fuller, Treadwell, and Parnell during a card game. This was followed by a more serious incident a month later at a party, where Parnell allegedly brandished a pistol, reportedly supplied by Treadwell, and pointed it at Fuller. These prior confrontations were not reported to the authorities at the time.
On the fatal night, tensions finally boiled over. Fuller and Parnell encountered each other at a gas station, leading to another argument. Fuller then followed a vehicle occupied by Parnell, Treadwell, and a friend to the home of another acquaintance. Witnesses reported seeing Fuller and Treadwell arguing outside the residence while Parnell remained in a nearby vehicle. During the heated exchange, Treadwell allegedly retrieved a handgun from the car, shot Fuller, and then fled the scene with Parnell.
The Anderson Police Department swiftly identified the suspects, leading to the arrest of 30-year-old Joshua Andrew Treadwell of Indianapolis on a murder charge. Brooklyn Ciara Parnell, 22, of Anderson, was also taken into custody and faced several charges, including assisting a criminal, obstruction of justice, and pointing a firearm. The legal process concluded with Joshua Treadwell being found guilty of murder with a firearm enhancement. He received a sentence of 75 years in the Department of Correction for his role in the death of Arneshia Fuller.
