In May of 2021, a quiet mobile home community in Peru, Indiana, became the scene of a heart-wrenching discovery. Inside one of the homes, law enforcement officers found the bodies of 26-year-old Jessica Sizemore, her 4-year-old daughter Rae'Lynn Sizemore, and her fiancé, Jessiah Hall, who was 37. The three had been shot to death. A two-year-old boy, Jessiah, was found alive in the home, having been alone with the bodies of his mother, sister, and her fiancé for several days.
He was physically unharmed and, after being medically cleared, was placed in the care of the Indiana Department of Child Services.
The investigation quickly led authorities to 25-year-old Mitchell Page of Brookston. Page was Jessica Sizemore's former boyfriend and the father of another of her children, a six-year-old daughter who was not present at the time of the killings. He was taken into custody at a relative's home in Lafayette just two days after the victims were found. The family of Jessica expressed profound shock, stating that Page was the last person they would have ever suspected of committing such a violent act. He was subsequently charged with three counts of murder.
Following a six-day trial in January 2024, a Miami County jury found Mitchell Page guilty on all three counts of murder. In February 2024, he was sentenced to 195 years in prison, receiving the maximum 65-year sentence for each murder, to be served consecutively. Page did not provide a statement during his sentencing and has indicated that he plans to appeal the length of his sentence. The brutal nature of the crime, with each victim having been shot in the head, left the family and community devastated. Jessica's mother took on the responsibility of caring for the surviving children.
