In the small community of Peru, Indiana, the life of 18-year-old Hanna Kaylee Cox was tragically cut short on February 24, 2022. A senior at Maconaquah High School, she was remembered as a vibrant and artistic individual with a passion for skateboarding, music, and nature. On that Thursday afternoon, what began as a casual encounter with her on-again, off-again boyfriend, 18-year-old Jeremiah Smith, ended in a fatal shooting.
