In the summer of 2021, a domestic dispute in Gas City, Indiana, escalated into a tragic and fatal event that ended the life of 43-year-old Telina Huffman. On the afternoon of July 19th, Telina, a female, and her husband, 48-year-old Eric Huffman, were passengers in an SUV being driven by one of Eric's relatives. An argument broke out between the couple as they were traveling.

The verbal altercation took a violent turn when Eric Huffman reportedly produced a handgun and shot his wife. The 69-year-old driver of the vehicle attempted to intervene, wrestling with Eric for control of the weapon. In the midst of the struggle, the driver lost control of the SUV, crashing into a parked semi-trailer. Following the impact, Eric Huffman regained control of the firearm and fatally shot himself.

Unable to exit the damaged vehicle, the driver traveled to the Gas City Town Hall and honked the horn to attract attention and seek help. Emergency responders arrived at the scene and had to extricate the driver from the SUV. Both Telina and Eric Huffman were pronounced dead at the scene from apparent gunshot wounds.

The Indiana State Police launched an investigation into the deaths, which they preliminarily classified as a murder-suicide. An autopsy was scheduled to confirm the causes of death. The investigation indicated a history of domestic disputes between the couple may have been a contributing factor to the tragic outcome.
