On the night of February 21, 2022, 56-year-old Barry Cade, a Black male from Indianapolis, Indiana, was fatally shot. The incident occurred just before 11 p.m. in the 5300 block of West 34th Place. Indianapolis Metropolitan Police Department officers responded to a report of a person shot and discovered Mr. Cade outside of his vehicle with multiple gunshot wounds.
Despite the efforts of emergency medical personnel, he was pronounced dead at the scene.
According to his widow, Faith Cade, her husband had called her shortly before the shooting to let her know he was on his way home from work. She has expressed her profound grief and confusion over the senseless act of violence, stating that her husband had no known enemies. Mrs. Cade believes he may have been in the wrong place at the wrong time.
The Marion County Coroner's Office later confirmed that Barry Cade's death was a homicide caused by multiple gunshot wounds. The Indianapolis Metropolitan Police Department's homicide unit is actively investigating the case. To date, no suspects have been publicly identified, and no arrests have been made in connection with the murder.
