On a Monday evening, May 16, 2022, in Palmyra, Indiana, a compassionate instinct to help a stranger in need led to the tragic death of 24-year-old Jacob Tyler McClanahan. A volunteer firefighter, McClanahan was off-duty when he and a friend stopped to offer assistance to a stranded motorist on Highway 135. A Palmyra Reserve Officer, Zachary Holly, was already at the scene attending to the disabled vehicle.
