Que’Aundre Johnson, a 19-year-old male from Marion, found his life tragically cut short by gunfire. The incident unfolded around 12:40 a.m. in the vicinity of West University Avenue and North Dill Street, where the Delaware County 911 Communications Center received a report of a shooting.
Responding Muncie police officers discovered Johnson with a gunshot wound. He was quickly transported to a nearby hospital, but succumbed to his injuries and was pronounced dead. Investigators confirmed that Johnson was not a student at the university.
The investigation into the untimely death of Que’Aundre Johnson moved swiftly. By the afternoon of the same day, Muncie police had identified and apprehended a suspect. Twenty-one-year-old Malek S. Williams was taken into custody in connection with the fatal shooting. Following his arrest, Malek S. Williams faced serious legal consequences for his alleged role in Johnson's death. On August 24, 2022, the Delaware County Prosecuting Attorney formally charged Williams with murder and criminal recklessness.
