Karen Farley, a 41-year-old teacher from Virginia Beach, VA, tragically lost her life on December 16, 1988, in a shooting incident at Atlantic Shores Christian School. On that fateful day, a 15-year-old student, Nicholas Elliott, opened fire with a 9mm pistol, killing Farley and wounding another teacher, Sam Marino. The shooting occurred in the morning, and Elliott's gun jammed as he attempted to shoot into a classroom full of children, potentially preventing further casualties.
