Anthony Sutin, the Dean of the Appalachian School of Law in Grundy, Virginia, tragically lost his life on January 16, 2002, in a shooting incident at the school. Sutin, who had a distinguished career in both private practice and government service, was one of three victims killed in the attack. The shooter, Peter Odighizuwa, a former student of the law school, opened fire on campus, resulting in the deaths of Sutin, Professor Thomas Blackwell, and student Angela Dales.
