On a Christmas morning that should have been filled with warmth and celebration, a tragedy unfolded in McLean, Virginia, shattering a family and a community. Sheila Gay Cheatham, a 53-year-old White female, died on December 25, 2005, the first victim in a horrific murder-suicide perpetrated by her own son. A devoted mother who ran a daycare center called Mother Nurture from her home, she was known for her dedication to the well-being of children.
