In the quiet community of Mclean, Virginia, a heart-wrenching story unfolded on August 5, 2018, forever altering the lives of a family. This tragic event centered around the death of 5-year-old Brooklynn Youngblood, a young female whose life was cut short in an act of unimaginable violence. The devastating incident took place in an apartment on Lincoln Circle, where Brooklynn and her 15-year-old sister, Sharon Castro, were shot by their own mother, Veronica Youngblood.

The events of that fateful night were set in motion by a bitter custody dispute between Veronica Youngblood and her ex-husband, Ronald Youngblood. In the days leading up to the shooting, Veronica had purchased a handgun. On the evening of the incident, she gave her daughters sleeping pill gummies before opening fire on them. While Brooklynn died instantly, her older sister, Sharon, was able to call 911 and identify her mother as the shooter before she too passed away from her injuries.
Following the shooting, Veronica Youngblood was arrested and charged with the murders of her two daughters.
