Ryan Travis Daniel, a 24-year-old male, tragically lost his life in the early morning hours of Saturday, April 27, 2013. The young man, known affectionately as 'Duck' to his friends and family, was attending a party in Campbell County, Virginia, when the festive gathering took a grim turn. A native of Concord, Virginia, and a 2006 graduate of Rustburg High School, Ryan was known for his love of people and his ability to make friends easily.
The incident occurred at a residence in the
4000 block of Long Island Road in Gladys. At approximately 2 a.m., the Campbell County Sheriff's Office received a call about a shooting at the location. Upon their arrival, deputies discovered Ryan with a gunshot wound to his lower chest. Despite the efforts of those present and the responding emergency services, he was pronounced dead at the scene.
In the immediate aftermath of the shooting, investigators from the Campbell County Sheriff's Office began a homicide investigation. Their efforts quickly led to the identification of a suspect. A man from Gladys was taken into custody and subsequently charged with second-degree murder in connection with Ryan's death.
Ryan was born in Lynchburg on July 15, 1988, to Tammy Lynn Fore and Edward Milton Fore of Concord. He was a member of Calvary Baptist Church and was employed at Mail America. His obituary paints a picture of a vibrant young man who was an avid fan of Virginia Tech Hokies football and enjoyed hunting, fishing, and NASCAR. He is survived by his parents, a brother, and a large extended family, including his paternal grandparents who resided in Gladys.
