In the late hours of a Saturday night in Falls Church, Virginia, a violent altercation shattered the peace of the Eden Center, a popular destination for Vietnamese dining and shopping. On September 14, 2013, Phuoc Huu Nguyen, a 35-year-old Asian man, found himself in the midst of a dispute that tragically escalated. Police were called to the 6700 block of Wilson Boulevard around 11:30 p.m.
with reports of a fight involving several people and the sound of gunshots.
Upon their arrival at the bustling shopping center's parking lot, officers discovered a grim scene. Phuoc Huu Nguyen was found with a cut on his face and at least one fatal gunshot wound. Witnesses reported that a fight had broken out in the parking lot, culminating in the gunfire that ended Nguyen's life. Fairfax and Arlington County Police were called in to assist with securing the large crime scene as an investigation into the homicide began.
In the days and weeks that followed, the Falls Church Police Department appealed to the public for any information that could lead to the identification and apprehension of those responsible for Phuoc Huu Nguyen's death.
