On an April evening in 2014, the life of 33-year-old Ebony Naomi Hurd was tragically cut short in Richmond, Virginia. The Black/African American female was discovered in a vehicle in the 2100 block of Mimosa Street, suffering from multiple gunshot wounds. Alongside her was Ivan Tyree Bridges, who was pronounced dead at the scene. Emergency responders rushed Hurd to a nearby hospital, but she ultimately succumbed to her injuries on April 23, 2014.
In the wake of the double homicide, the
Richmond Police Department, in conjunction with the FBI's Richmond Area Violent Enterprise Task Force, launched an investigation. Authorities learned that two unidentified Black males, believed to be between 20 and 25 years of age and standing between 5'3' and 5'8' tall, were seen in the vicinity prior to the shooting. Despite this lead, the individuals have not been identified, and no arrests have been made in the case.
The investigation into the murders of Ebony Hurd and Ivan Bridges remains open. In an effort to bring an end to the long wait for answers, the FBI has offered a substantial reward for any information that leads to the arrest and conviction of the person or persons responsible for their deaths. The case continues to be an unsolved tragedy for the families and the Richmond community, a painful reminder of a life taken too soon and a plea for justice that has yet to be answered.
