An 18-year-old man, Brehon Malik Williams, known to his loved ones as 'Breezy,' was fatally shot in the early morning hours of Sunday, January 4, 2015. The incident occurred around 3:12 AM in the 2900 block of Fireside Road in the South Norfolk section of Chesapeake, Virginia. Williams, who resided on the same street where he was found, sustained multiple gunshot wounds.
A son and a brother, Williams was also a young father who leaves behind a son.
His family, friends, and community gathered for a candlelight vigil the evening after his death to remember a young man described as having a bright future and a welcoming smile. During the vigil, pleas for peace and an end to violence were voiced by those in attendance.
The Chesapeake Police Department launched a homicide investigation into Williams' death, which was the first homicide in the city in 2015. In the initial stages of the investigation, police identified and questioned two potential suspects. However, both individuals were subsequently released.
Despite the ongoing investigation, no arrests have been publicly announced in connection with the shooting death of Brehon Williams.
