In the quiet community of Toano, Virginia, 77-year-old Audrey Lily Boyle, a White female, was found deceased in her Richmond Road home on the morning of October 8, 2015. A relative discovered her and her 79-year-old husband, James Edward Kite, and alerted the authorities. James City County Police responded to the scene around 9:30 a.m. and began what would become a tragic investigation.
Investigators determined that both Audrey and James had sustained fatal gunshot wounds.
The preliminary findings suggested a grim sequence of events, pointing towards a murder-suicide. It is believed that James Kite shot his wife in the kitchen area of their shared home before proceeding to the garage, where he then took his own life. Their bodies were subsequently transported to the Medical Examiner's Office in Richmond for further examination to confirm the cause of death.
As the investigation unfolded, it was concluded that James Kite was responsible for Audrey Boyle's death. With the primary suspect also being deceased, there were no arrests made in connection with the case, and therefore, no subsequent litigation or legal proceedings. For over 25 years, Audrey was a familiar face to many as a dedicated sales employee at Carolina Furniture. She was remembered by friends and family for her vibrant personality.
