In the quiet community of Louisa, Virginia, the life of 43-year-old Kevin Eugene Robinson was brought to a tragic and violent end on March 30, 2016. A family member, arriving at his home on the 2100 block of Oakland Road, made the grim discovery. Initially believing he may have suffered a heart attack, the reality of the situation became terrifyingly clear upon the arrival of the rescue squad and sheriff's deputies.
Robinson was found in his bed, having sustained multiple gunshot wounds.
The investigation that followed painted a picture of a home invasion that turned deadly. Evidence at the scene suggested a shootout had occurred between Robinson and his assailants, a desperate struggle that ultimately cost him his life. The Louisa County Sheriff's Office launched a homicide investigation into the apparent home invasion, working to piece together the events that led to the fatal encounter.
Within a short period, the investigation led to the identification and arrest of three suspects. Dion Phoenix, 24, of Woodbridge, was taken into custody on April 6, 2016. Two days later, authorities arrested 30-year-old Tobias Owens of Woodbridge and 29-year-old Darcel Murphy of Stafford. All three men were charged with second-degree murder in connection with Robinson's death and were held without bond. The motive for the home invasion and shooting was not immediately released by authorities.
