On the last day of 2016, a life was tragically cut short in Portsmouth, Virginia. Donte Raynell Bynum, a 27-year-old Black male, was found suffering from gunshot wounds in the 1500 block of Wilcox Avenue. Born on April 29, 1989, Donte was known in his community as a loving individual with a particular fondness for children. He had attended Portsmouth Public Schools and was a cherished son, brother, and friend.
