In the pre-dawn hours of a Tuesday in Hampton, Virginia, the life of 30-year-old Jerrod Montrell Brown, a Black man, was tragically cut short. On March 28, 2017, at approximately 1:59 a.m., the sound of gunfire pierced the quiet near the intersection of Quash Street and Foley Street. When police officers arrived at the scene, they discovered Brown lying in the roadway. He had sustained a gunshot wound to his head and was pronounced deceased right there on the street.
